Philosophy of TreatmentWe believe that people change when they are ready to change. It is our job as therapists to help raise levels of consciousness regarding mental health and substance abuse instability. With insight and understanding and reframing of distorted thoughts and beliefs the individual moves through six stages of change which help them reach the shared goal of total sobriety with mental health stability resulting in a higher level of functioning.  These stages of change are as follows:

The Pre-contemplative Stage represents the person who denies that their symptoms are of any significance. There is no problem in their life, despite what others can see.  This is denial.

The Contemplative Stage occurs when the circumstances of life, called consequences begin to pile up and the person has to acknowledge that they just might have a problem.

The Preparation Stage happens when the person accepts that their problem is real and they need to develop a plan to make appropriate changes. I need help.

The Action Stage is that part of the planning cycle where the person implements specific action steps to make changes in their life, like attending therapy.

The Maintenance Stage is a process of continued care through attending support meetings and ongoing self care.

The Relapse Stage is really a return to old behaviors often due to the lack of diligence in the maintenance stage, it requires that the person loop back into the preparation stage, action stage, with a return to stability in the maintenance stage.

We offer counseling sessions for individuals, couples, and families.
