The Consortium is a nonprofit educational association of 15 member universities committed to the advancement of higher education in the Washington Metropolitan Area. 

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and Prince George's Community College (PGCC) have joined the Consortium as its 15th and 16th member. With nearly 77,000 students, NOVA is the largest community college in Virginia. PGCC serves Prince George's County, Maryland, by serving about 19,000 students. NOVA President Scott Ralls and PGCC President Charlene Dukes will join the CUWMA Board of Trustees, the governing body of CUWMA. With these new members, CUWMA continues to expand its inclusion of higher education institutions in the greater Washington, DC region to better reflect the diversity of institutions and programs.
