In 2008, Glenn Freitas was arrested for cultivating and promoting marijuana. He was taken to Kauai Community Correctional Facility to await his sentencing and received five years’ probation. Full Story

A new “Peer Mentoring” program called Hiki Ni‘o was created with funding from Aloha United Way. In this program, a trained volunteer provides case management services to persons in early recovery. The Hiki Ni‘o program provides consistent and caring mentors to guide, support and inspire program participants to develop the attitudes and skills that will help them become successful in their recovery, their personal lives and in the workplace as participating members of their community.
