Often times in desolate lava fields the resilient ‘ohi‘a lehua tree is the first sign of life after a devastating flow. The ‘ohi‘a lehua with its strength, stature and ability to thrive in a variety of climates is symbolic of the work of the Big Island Substance Abuse Council.

Since 1964, BISAC has been inspiring individuals and families to reclaim and enrich their lives in the wake of the ravages of substance abuse. We offer a continuum of

services that are culturally appropriate and aligned with the ever-changing behavioral health field. Our highly professional and caring staff are deeply committed to delivering services through our intensive outpatient, therapeutic living, adolescent school based services, adult mental health and Po‘okela vocational programs that truly make a difference in the lives of persons served and make our community a better place to live.
