On Saturday, August 13, 2016, Mendocino Coast Clinics held an open house in celebration of National Health Center Week. The week highlights America’s health centers’ long success in providing access to affordable, high quality and cost effective health care. This year’s theme was “Celebrating America’s Health Centers: Innovators in Community Health.”

In commemoration of this week, Mendocino Coast Clinics held a progressive open house to showcase their three beautiful and innovative sites. The activities started at their Pediatric site on Cypress St. with numerous activities for children, including a story time corner and a coloring area. The open house continued at their Reproductive Health site on Sequoia Circle. There were numerous displays including an informational nutrition table.  The festivities proceeded to the Medical and Dental site on South St. with tables showcasing Behavioral Health and Dental Services along with Cancer Screening and information. Activities for children included face painting and creative experiments. Refreshments were served at all three sites; thanks go out to Sweet Affair and Harvest Market who prepared part of the spread, along with Los Gallitos and Thanksgiving Coffee for their generous donations.

Staff was on site at all three locations to introduce themselves and answer questions. In addition, a Patient Advocate was available to answer questions about Covered California, Medi-Cal, Medicare, Cal-fresh, Voter registration and numerous other services and programs. In keeping with the theme “Innovators in Community Health”, a representative was available to demonstrate and sign up people for the Patient Portal. The day concluded with two raffles. The two lucky winners won an electric toothbrush and a Fitbit.
