Depending on their country of origin, 5-15% of API immigrants have chronic hepatitis B. In some Pacific Rim countries, as many as 10-20% of the population are chronically infected.

Presented by speakers Nwe Oo and Fatai “Tai” Tokolahi from the Community Health for Asian Americans (CHAA) in Oakland, CA. This event, which is part of Mills' South Asian Middle Eastern Asian Pacific Islander (SAMEAPI) Awareness Month, will be located in the Faculty/Staff Lounge.

Tai is a community advocate for the Pacific Islander people here in Alameda County and he will be talking about deconstructing masculinity in the Pacific Islander community, sexual health in the API community, and how men can be better allies for women.

Our political journey is about connecting to all issues that impact marginalized Asian and Pacific Islanders. Last week, we visited San Quentin State Prison to talk to the ROOTS participants inside. We connected on immigration and economic opportunities.
