…a substantial contribution to our community in the private sector recovery programs.-Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge

Experienced in the treatment of drug and alcohol abuse since 1990 and in management for 10 years prior to that, Lori Johnson is the driving force behind the success of Amicus House. By being involved in overseeing individual treatment personally, she is able to maintain the high level of quality that has established Amicus House as one of Northern California’s premiere treatment facilities.

Richard and Lori Johnson founded Amicus House, Inc in 1998 after owning and directing Moriah, Inc. an alcohol and drug treatment program, which was comprised of 7 facilities founded by them in 1989. Richard Johnson began his career in the field in 1977 and was an innovator in the area of rehabilitation and the creation of alternatives to incarceration of alcoholics and drug offenders.

He became known and respected in the community for his accomplishments and the many people who feel they owe their lives to him. After Richard’s passing in 2001, Lori has continued their dream of providing the highest level of treatment at an affordable cost. A respected member of the community, Lori Johnson has proven her commitment to helping others. In addition to directing operations at the primary treatment facility, she supervises a network of certified transition houses.

In 2008, after retiring as a Health Care Program Manager at the Santa Clara County Department of Alcohol and Drug Services (DADS), Mr. Stephen Maggetti and Lori collaborated and began the Outpatient Treatment and Work Release components of Amicus House. Steve began his career in the field of substance abuse treatment in 1984 and has become one of the most highly regarded and well respected professionals in this field.

Over the years, Lori and Steve have established themselves as authorities in the field of addiction and recovery. After Steve’s retirement in 2012, Lori, as the Director of Amicus House, continues to uphold her personal values while maintaining a facility dedicated to helping those in need.

We provide an alcohol and drug recovery facility that provides 24 hour residential, non-medical recovery services. Our facilities are small and personable and utilize an intensive 12-step program. Our program is based on both group support and individual counseling.

The program is divided into three phases: the 24 hour supervised Primary Phase, the Transitional Phase that allows employment, the Aftercare Phase that focuses on relapse prevention. We also provide Outpatient Treatment to be utilized during the Transitional Phase or as a stand-alone component.

My child has returned to me. A year ago she was living on the steets not even in contact with her family. I now speak with her every day and see the peace that is in her.

We could not have chosen better neighbors than Amicus House next door.

I highly recommend both the program and Lori Johnson to any court considering a relationship with a treatment provider.

You have changed my life. Thank you for instilling in me the self respect, pride, and fight I once had.

Their integrity was impeccable at all times, and I relied on them to assist me in coming up with a proper treatment program for their clients.

The reputation of Amicus House and Lori Johnson continues to be one of the highest in this county.
