The Washington Science Teacher Association has named Rochester Middle School teacher Pete Duranceau this year’s Science Teacher of the Year for Middle School Education.

The guest speaker at our annual WASA 113 Welcome Breakfast was Father Michael Oleksa. He spoke about equity and how cultures influence the way we understand each other.

Carol now serves as one of nine candidates chosen by their respective ESDs, who will be considered for Washington State Teacher of the Year. The state’s recipient will be announced by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction this fall.

Special education teachers and para professionals are injured more frequently and more severely than any other group of school district employees. This new $175K grant will help.
