What can I expect in the first session when I see a therapist?

When you call Pacifica, you will have a live person answering the phone. If for some reason it goes to our voice mail, you will receive a call back very quickly. You may ask any questions about our services and we will take time to answer them. If you need either eating disorder services or substance abuse services, we will take your information, check your health insurance, and schedule an assessment with Jim Rhoads, our founder and director. The assessment will be scheduled in the next day or two.

The assessment will take about an hour. If you are an adolescent or have a concerned family member with you, a family assessment will also be conducted. Upon completing the assessment(s), he will design an individual program for you. You will be asked to identify specific goals that you would like to address while in the program. Unfortunately, the staff will then provide you will the various forms to complete that are required by our certification and accreditation. These forms can be completed here or at home. We will then orient you to the program, the schedule, the meeting places and the facility. Pacifica is a very warm and home-style setting where we want you to feel welcome and supported. We will review the benefits of your heath insurance and make arrangements for out of pocket expenses. We have the ability to discount and make payment plans based upon need. We will then schedule your start date and you will be ready to enter recovery.

Pacifica was accredited by Joint Commission in 2008 and has maintained continuous accreditation since. The Joint Commission is the highest and most comprehensive accreditation organization and patients, families and health insurance companies prefer providers that are accredited by the Joint Commission. The founder and director of Pacifica Recovery, Jim Rhoads, began his career in the substance abuse treatment field in 1970. He has a distinguished professional history and developed several nationally recognized treatment centers in various prominent hospitals. With the changes occurring in healthcare he decided in 2005 to open and develop his own outpatient service. Pacifica Recovery is delighted continuing to provide care over the years with its exceptional staff.
