Substance Abuse, which refers to alcohol and/or drug abuse, is a serious problem and often leads to losing control of one’s own life. It not only affects the person using the substances, but also other members of the family. The effects of substance abuse can be devastating.

Valle del Sol’s outpatient treatment is individualized and designed to help adults learn healthy strategies for dealing with the difficulties and stress related to alcoholism and other drug addictions. Participants learn proven ways to avoid substance use. Individual, group and family counseling are some of the methods available to assist clients in achieving their goals and living a substance-free life.

Mental Health issues may affect how someone lives his/her life. Dealing with concerns, such as anxiety, trauma, loss, illness and depression can be stressful and often painful. The individualized outpatient services are provided by experienced therapists and offer real solutions at every stage of life. Treatment and support helps individuals become self-reliant, confident, responsible, caring and contributing members of society. Individual, group and family counseling are offered to help address mental health concerns. Valle del Sol offers specialty groups that include: a women’s group, a group that addresses relationship issues, an art therapy group, and ‘mood’ groups in English and Spanish, in which participants learn how to handle their different moods in a positive and healthy way.

In addition to counseling services, medication management services are available. Board-Certified Psychiatrists provide psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication monitoring services. Psychiatric evaluations are scheduled for one hour and ongoing medication monitoring appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes. This allows time to accurately assess who might be able to benefit from medication services.

Individuals who have been court-ordered to receive DUI, Substance Abuse, and Domestic Violence treatment can go to Valle del Sol for services. Court ordered as well as non-court ordered referrals are accepted. Locations where services are offered include: Central Phoenix, South Phoenix, East Mesa, Tempe and Avondale. For more information, call 602.218.8650 or [email protected]. More information . . .

A variety of classes are offered each week, including evenings and weekends:

The Pathways to Independence program focuses on support services for young adults (ages 17 1/2-21) and promotes healthy independence and successful transition to adulthood. As a young adult, you have opportunities and challenges every day. Your future is wide open. Pathways to Independence is available to help make your goals a reality.  This FREE program provides young adults enrolled with Valle del Sol with assistance and a variety of free activities, from social to educational, to help them meet their independent living goals. The Crisis Navigator program employs Crisis Transition Navigators, who are peers and who are able to provide intensive case management services for several weeks following a crisis event. The Navigators work with other crisis providers in Maricopa County to bridge the gap between crisis services and community/outpatient services while making an effort to prevent future non-emergent use of crisis services. Because this is a peer-run program, this means that the peers are knowledgeable about community resources/supports, basic needs resources and can help by giving firsthand experience about how to overcome similar challenges to what you may be experiencing. Referrals are from other inpatient, outpatient and community crisis providers only at this time.
