LLC Counseling Services was established in 2001. It is an Arizona Board of Behavioral Health state-licensed outpatient facility. Therapists work with Adult Probation Officers, city court screeners, attorneys and technical schools to provide counseling services for clients dealing with alcohol and substance abuse issues. Licensed counselors (LISAC) have extensive training in outpatient substance abuse treatment and education as well as other related fields i.e. anger management, pharmacological training, ethics and cognitive approaches.

Curriculum is constantly being refined and updated according to current research based on successful recovery strategies. Clients are encouraged to journal daily to record their progress in recovery thereby documenting their feelings throughout the process. Clients are also required to develop a list of sobriety based activities to replace destructive behavioral patterns and fill out a personal prevention plan to set positive long and short term goals. Individual treatment plans are developed by the therapist and client to create a therapeutic educational experience that can reduce recidivism rates and provide positive interventions to enhance pro-social behavior changes.

Cognitive restructuring is the main focus in group therapy sessions. Small groups are maintained to insure participation of all members who need to address their recovery issues. Individualized treatment programs are created to determine the client’s readiness to change.

The counselors are trained to develop assessment strategies and techniques on how to deal with denial and resistant clients. Creating a positive supportive therapeutic environment that encourages clients to open up and share their feelings is required for a successful long-term recovery.

Individual counseling is recommended if the client and the counselor agree to more in depth treatment.

My goal as therapist is to provide therapeutic services to individuals in a safe, caring environment while preserving their integrity: and to encourage individuals to achieve a maximum level of mental, physical, social and spiritual well-being.

Linda Choplin MEd, MC, NBCC, LISAC
