“Listen to my response on CBS to the Mom’s For Marijuana organization who insist they are better parents when high.”

“As required by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health, “Practice of substance abuse counseling” means the direct application of professional counseling techniques to persons who are dependent on or abuse substances and to persons who are affected by that dependency or abuse. Practice of substance abuse counseling includes the use of psychotherapy for the purpose of diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of substance abuse and chemical dependency in individuals, couples, families and groups.” This is a requirement for psychotherapy with this provider.”

Diebold Behavioral Counseling, a sole practitioner consisting of D.J. Diebold and his referral team, provides a diverse selection of Arizona counseling (Scottsdale) services for those in need. We focus on four Arizona counseling programs. These include addictions counseling, trauma counseling, depression counseling and anxiety counseling. It should be noted that there must be a substance abuse component connected, directly or indirectly, as stated above in the statute, prior to services being rendered.

Arizona Counseling (click here for info) D.J. Diebold is a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC) and Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) who has been serving the behavioral health community for over 20 years. D.J.Diebold is a Board Certified and a State Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist. Beyond his credentials, D.J. cares for his clients and brings a warm, personal touch into a field where it is important for clients to feel safe and secure.

Addictions Counseling (click here for info) Addictions counseling in Scottsdale can empower you with the skills to manage stress and anger without drugs and alcohol. Plus we offer Arizona dwi and Arizona dui defense services via referral. In addition, our addictions recovery, support referral team includes a renowned DUI attorney, a blood analysis expert and D.J. Diebold, the behavioral health therapist.

Trauma Counseling (click here for info)Trauma counseling and PTSD counseling are also treated here in Scottsdale. Traumas can be experienced after a single event or after repeated, long term incidents. This type of condition can be triggered by natural events or through deliberate actions by another.

Many clients take comfort in knowing that D.J. Diebold (Arizona counselor)  is a Vietnam era veteran and so, in addition to his training in this field, he has personal experience with those feelings of trauma, grief and loss.

Depression Counseling(click here for video) Depression counseling includes major depression, dysthymic disorder, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), bipolar disorder, teen depression and many other categories of depression. Depression can affect any age and D.J. Diebold is able to assist most ages and cultural backgrounds.

Anxiety Counseling (click here for info) Anxiety counseling helps people suffering from anxiety disorders commonly referred to as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, agoraphobia and social anxiety disorder.

Anxiety is often described and identified by the physical symptoms that come with it and can include heart palpitations, nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath, stomach aches, sweating, headaches, immune system stress, increased blood pressure, and trembling.

Other Counseling Services In addition to the treatment stated above, our Arizona counseling (Scottsdale) location offers teens counseling, relationships counseling, ADD and ADHD counseling, anger counseling, christian counseling and other therapeutic counseling options. Again, all must have a substance abuse component that affects the prospective client, directly or indirectly for services to be provided.

"Anyone can become angrythat is easy. To be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right waythis is not easy." Today, we call this assertive communication, as opposed to aggressive or passive-aggressive communication. Skilled communication is an art form, one worth the effort, thousands of times over.

We currently accept Visa, MC, AMX, Discover and cash (including a discount) regarding payment. We do act as an out of network provider, so that clients can submit their payments to their insurance company for reimbursement. We will provide a diagnosis and the amount to be reimbursed, but it is the responsibility of the client to make this submission to their insurance company. Typically, reimbursement is sent within 2-3 weeks, directly to the client. *Please remember that studies repeatedly show that the financial cost of treatment is miniscule compared to the cost of using drugs and alcohol, not to mention the physical, emotional and spiritual costs.

I saw you as a client almost exactly 10 months ago. I've thought about calling you almost every month I've picked up a chip. I haven't had a drink since the night before I first came to see you. I was a shaking, neurotic mess.

I was pretty resistent to therapy and probably only saw you a half-dozen times, put you pointed me back to AA and that's really what I needed.

You told me a few things I have clung to at different times in the last 10 months. Most salient, I remember sitting there with nothing but defeat and telling you I had no faith that it would be different "this time." You told me it already was-- that it was written all over my face.

I've thought about that a lot, and I believed you even when I didn't believe it.

We left Scottsale in October and moved here outside Boulder, Colorado. I attend a women's group that has childcare 3 days a week. I even quit smoking August 16th. Its been a big year.

I hope you are well and thank you again for the boost and redirect you gave me.

My life was really out of control. I was drinking too much and I felt down all the time. A friend recommended I talk to D.J. Diebold and he helped me to believe in myself again. Thanks D.
