Mark Zwick, the founder of Casa Juan Diego, has suffered from Parkinsons for a number of years. He is now bed bound and on hospice at home. Update: Mark has been in the hospital since Friday, August 26th, with wounds that became abscessed and pneumonia. He is expected to return home at the end of this week, but that is dependent on his condition. We greatly appreciate all the prayers and messages. Visiting With the Sick and Injured When people come to Casa Juan Diego for help, we hear many tragic stories, but see the beauty of families helping each other. When the sick or injured come for help, if there is family, or if they are able to live alone, we help them directly. We address the need, but we also try to ask how they are and hear a little bit about how they are doing. Listening to their stories makes little difficulties we have seem minor by comparison. The recent death of Father Daniel Berrigan, S.J., the famous anti-war priest, reminded me of a retreat he gave in Houston well over twenty years ago.
