 Four Surprising Facts About Addiction

1. Addiction is unpredictable—it can happen to anyone at any time.

2. Many addicts suffer from co-occurring disorders, meaning they have an addiction alongside at least one other mental health condition.

3. Relapse happens to many people during recovery.

4. Addiction is a disease that is completely treatable

The more you learn about addiction, the better prepared you will be to combat it.

Question:  How do I know if I or someone close to me is addicted to drugs?

Answer:  The short answer….if you or someone close to you is having a problem with drugs and they continue to use, it’s time to get help.  Continued use, despite negative consequences, is a powerful indicator of addiction.

When families find themselves dealing with addiction and mental health issues, it is difficult to know where to turn, or to know how significant the problem is.

Welcome to WINGS! We are a Co-Occurring Disorders treatment center for males and females age 13 to 18 who struggle with both addiction and mental health disorders.

Our treatment process  for clients begins with admission and continues through an intensive MICD structured program to build skills, knowledge and self-esteem. During their stay at WINGS, we first employ a variety of methods (interviews, personal observation, chemical dependency assessments, Diagnostic Assessments, etc.) to identify and evaluate each person’s individual needs. Once these have been determined, an individual treatment plan is created, containing a strategy for addressing each area. During the remainder of their stay at WINGS, this treatment plan is carried out through individual counseling with professionally licensed counselors, group therapy, DBT and CBT skills groups and processing, and family education and therapy.  EMDR trauma therapy is also available for clients who are appropriate for this course of therapy.  Everything that we do is trauma-informed, and we strive to meet each client where they are at, and design a course of treatment that is specific to their chemical and mental health needs.

Throughout your child’s stay at WINGS the clinical team works with you, your child, and any other professionals associated with your child to create a long-term aftercare plan to build upon the knowledge gained while at our facility and to support both chemical and mental health recovery long-term.

At WINGS we are not just here to educate on the issues of chemical and mental health- we also consider our program to be “life support” for our clients and their families. This means that we focus on the whole child and family, their needs, relationships, decision making, self-esteem, communication and more.  When clients leave us, we strive to see a positive change in their chemical health and mental health, but also a greater set of tools to more effectively deal with all areas of life.
