We are state licensed substance abuse treatment facility,

Which functions to provide a clinically managed residential treatment for women and women with children.

The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of Fort Dodge has been in existence since 1909, and at its current location since 1914. The three-story building was originally designed to house permanent and transient women. With dorm style private housing throughout, residents shared kitchen, laundry, bath and lounge space. The building also included club rooms and a gymnasium with showers. Thirty-six rooms were available for rent by women coming into the community for education and employment.

Substance abuse is a life-threatening medical condition. Untreated, those who suffer this illness will die: they will overdose; they will develop cancers of the liver, pancreas and urinary tract.

I have developed as a sober healthy, woman with help of the YWCA. I now have fighting chance to make it in this world, and I owe much of that to the YWCA Center for Life Empowerment.
