Alliance Health Center first began in 1961 as St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Under the guidance of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the hospital provided inpatient hospitalization for surgeries and medical/physical illnesses.  In the early 1970s, the psychiatry department was opened.  Psychiatrists provided effective use of drugs and electro-convulsive therapy in the treatment of a wide range of psychiatric disorders.  In 1977, Hospital Corporation of America (HMA) leased St. Joseph Hosital and changed the name to Meridian Regional Hospital. The nuns soon returned to Ohio and Alliance Health Center became a free standing psychiatric and drug/alcohol facility in 1989.  For over 40 years, this hospital has provided psychiatric and drug/alcohol treatment to individuals across the state of Mississippi and Alabama.

Located in Meridian, Mississippi, Alliance Health Center is  a 154 bed acute care psychiatric and substance abuse treatment hospital.  The facility offers treatment for adolescents ages 12 through 17, adults with severe mental health disorders and a separate unit “Journeys” for depression, post traumatic stress and bi-polar.  A program specifically designed for the geriatric population is offered for those experiencing signs and symptoms of dementia and severe depression due to aging issues.

In addition to the inpatient programs the Alliance campus is home to The Crossings, a 60 bed residential treatment facility for adolescents with conduct and oppositional defiant disorders, depression, post traumatic stress (PTSD) and a program for male sexual offenders.

Alliance’s addiction services include medical detoxification, a dual diagnosis program treating the addiction and co-occurring mental health issues as well as New Leaf Recovery.  New Leaf Recovery provides a full continuum of care including partial hospitalization with lodging and intensive outpatient therapy day or evenings 3 days per week.
