Although there may be economic and other factors affecting the quantity of medical services available in rural areas, there should be no disparity in the quality of medical services. Rural Health Medical Program, Inc. (RHMP, Inc.) is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center. This private non-profit, 501c3 corporation was organized in October 1977 to provide comprehensive quality primary and preventive health care to individuals living in the Black Belt area.

Rural Health was organized in 1978 as a non-profit organization to improve qualify of primary health care for Perry County's low-income residents. The organization's operation is federally subsidized with third party reimbursements, patient fees and state dollars.
