Schedule at Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Consulting (CAPC)

I am a Wisconsin child psychiatrist. I am board-certified in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. I treat mental health problems, behavioral problems and emotional problems with a family-centered, evidence-based treatment approach. I utilize a holistic, integrative medicine model to evaluate, diagnose and treat children of all ages, adolescents and adults. I provide individual therapy, family therapy, psycho education, neurofeedback, and medication management.  Mindfulness based psychotherapies, including Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT), Minfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness Based Meditation are my treatment and research interests. I collaborate with other care providers to obtain information to make the best possible diagnosis, and to develop individualized treatment.  I also utilize standardized checklists and instruments for diagnosis and treatment. I work hard to advocate in the best interests of my patients and for others who need mental health services. As a Wisconsin child psychiatrist, I serve the children and families in this state that has become my home. My holistic and integrative approach to mental health can help with a number of emotional problems, behavioral concerns, school problems and family problems. We are adept at managing self harm (cutting), suicidal ideation,  eating disorders, problems with low self-esteem and depression. We can help with anxiety and worry, obsessive compulsive disorder, tics and Tourettes. Our clinicians understand ADHD and learning disorders, and can assist with parenting children who pose challenges due to behavioral or developmental issues, including autism. We can assist you in finding improved anger management. Mental Health Advocacy is an important part of the work of a Child Psychiatrist. My efforts include grassroots lobbying, development and promotion of legislation and leadership roles with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). I also serve as the president of the Wisconsin Council of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, as a Wisconsin child psychiatrist.

Families who come to Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Consulting (CAPC)  are often pleasantly surprised by its location. We are located on a horse ranch, where equines and licensed mental health providers work as a team to provide therapy and counseling.  Our Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr. Jenna Saul moved to Wisconsin in 2003, and founded CAPC in 2006.   She moved her psychiatry practice to central Wisconsin in 2008.  As  a Wisconsin Child Psychiatrist, Dr. Jenna recognizes that access to mental health care in Wisconsin is a problem. She  was determined to open a mental health clinic that would enhance the mental health and wellness of children and families.

Dr. Jenna identified that equine assisted psychotherapy could greatly increase the effectiveness of psychotherapy–even for those who were resistant to treatment–she founded HORSES TREAT. Now, both CAPC and HORSES TREAT are located on a horse ranch in Marshfield, WI. While driving to our Wisconsin certified mental health clinic, you will see our white fencing, the brown buildings, and the copper roofs. When you park in front of our dairy barn, you may see our  horses in the front paddock. You might hear our donkey bray. And you will likely be greeted by the barn cats.

The environment is therapeutic, but it can be dusty, or muddy, or snowy. If you can avoid wearing your best clothing here, and if you can dress prepared for the weather, you will be more comfortable here.

In addition to a Wisconsin child psychiatrist, we have therapists from various disciplines,  a warm, mindful  group of people who think “oustide the box”. We are committed to lifelong learning and we provide evidence-based assessment and treatment to you and your family members who seek our guidance. We believe that treatment is a collaboration, and that the children, adolescents, adults and families that come to work with us are a part of the team. We will find out what your concerns are, what your goals are, and develop a treatment plan with you. We believe that it is not our job to “connect the dots” or “turn the pages for you. We hope to help you turn the pages for yourself, and appreciate your willingness to allow us to be a part of your life’s story.

PALS Course has ACLS and PALS programs for cert or recert.

Some parents have asked “why do you see patients in this setting?” During the last several years in clinical practice, I have been frustrated by the limitations of the most common treatment interventions that we have to offer. (more)
