A Recovery Facility for Women

Please take a minute to watch this great segment WAAY-TV did in 2013 on A New Beginning! Big thanks to Shannon, Theresa, and Lucie for sharing their stories. We have changed locations since then but with God’s help, we are still changing lives!

WHERE LOVE LIVES, EXPECT MIRACLES.

Our mission is to provide an environment that is loving, nurturing, safe and conducive to recovery while presenting the needed resources for women to build a strong foundation for sobriety.

Our program six months to a year and upon graduation, clients are equipped with the life skills necessary to live a drug-free and sober life.

Lucie Bowen, ICADC, Executive Director

Lucie is a Certified Addictions Professional as well as an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Lucie has more than 18 years as an addiction therapist in a variety of settings. Her compassion for helping others comes from her personal experience as well as experience with family and friends. She lives on-site confirming her desire to break the cycle of addiction and help women live up to their God-given potential. Lucie believes that love is a powerful antidote for addiction and feels compelled to establish a safe and nurturing atmosphere for women. That vision, along with Lucie’s dedication and hard work, is what started A New Beginning and helps make it the dynamic and growing program it is today.

Theresa Holley, ICADC, Case Manager

After working in the medical field for 13 years, Theresa followed her heart and turned her time and energy to helping others who suffer from the disease of addiction. Being in the recovery community herself, Theresa understands that utilizing the multitude of ways  that women can heal is essential for success of treatment. Theresa is dedicated to providing clients with a comfortable, nurturing and result-oriented atmosphere that is conducive to lasting recovery.

Ashley Blankenship, ICADC, Case Manager

Ashley received her B.A. from the University of Alabama in 1994. She became interested in working with women who suffer from chemical dependency after working a 12-step recovery program herself. She began working as a Certified Peer Support Specialist and is now a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor at A New Beginning.

Our Community is nestled in the heart of The Shoals in Northwest Alabama.

With an active recovery community, the Shoals is centered in the Quad Cities of Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield & Tuscumbia. With a surrounding population of just under 150,000, many have found 12-step meetings and an active, supportive ecosystem towards living a life of sobriety free from chemical dependency.

A New Beginning has a wide-range of networks with many of the surrounding church communities. Through scholarships, pledges and donations, many women have had their lives restored becoming productive members of society in the process.

With musicians, artists and others calling the birthplace of Helen Keller & the ‘Muscle Shoals Sound’ home, we trust you will be able to hear, see and feel the difference our community makes.

Start at A New Beginning.

A New Beginning is unique in that we offer a destination designed for long term recovery.

Our program teaches women of all ages how to live life on life’s terms — without returning to drug and alcohol dependency. Through a program of rigorous honesty and following principles in the 12 steps, our clients transition into a stable way of life. Our approach is individually based on each client and our results unmatched.

A New Beginning’s clients have come from as far as Miami and Kentucky to participate in our program. We work with the community to provide the best possible care to women near and far suffering from the disease of addiction. It is our hope that with God’s help our clients may permanently break the cycle of addiction, return to a life of sobriety, be an asset to society and become self-supporting through their own contributions.
