Cheaha Regional Mental Health Center (CRMHC) is a public, non-profit corporation which is governed by a 21 member Board of Directors. The Board is appointed by local governments under the Authority of Alabama Act 310 of the 1957 Alabama Legislature. CRMHC provides a continuum of services for persons with intellectual disabilities, serious mental illness and substance abuse in a four county area in east Alabama, which includes Clay, Coosa, Randolph, and Talladega Counties. CRMHC is certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health as a Comprehensive Community Mental Health Center. Accordingly, services are provided in accordance with the Community Mental Health Program Standards promulgated by the Department of Mental Health. CMHC holds membership in the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare and the Alabama Council of Community Mental Health Boards. Fees may be charged for some services. However, many individuals qualify for a reduced fee based upon family income. Insurance may be billed for eligible services.
