At PEER Services you’ll find a staff of highly trained specialists working in the field of substance abuse prevention and treatment and utilizing cutting-edge, effective, research-based treatment methods. Our interdisciplinary treatment team includes a physician, nurses, masters level therapists, certified addiction counselors, and family therapists. We use a holistic approach to treatment, recognizing that substance use can impact a person’s body, mind, and spirit.

For 40 years we’ve been working to transform the lives of thousands of teens and adults as they open the door to a healthier, brighter future. Each life we save helps to strengthen a family as well as a community.

PEER Services is a 501c (3) organization licensed to provide substance abuse treatment by the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. PEER Services is also certified by the National Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and accredited by the Joint Commission, which is recognized as the gold standard for healthcare organizations throughout the country.

We have a strong track record of success. Healing begins with your first call. By taking the important step of scheduling an appointment, you have accomplished what is really the hardest part of the process…getting started. You are ready to get your life back!

Learn how alcohol and drugs are affecting your loved ones. Find compassionate instruction to help you understand the situation and provide encouragement. We’ll help you take care of yourself and offer the safety, support, and counseling for you and your family.

PEER Services is a preferred in-network provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois and we accept All-Kids, Medicaid, Medicare, FamilyCare and other major insurance that covers outpatient substance abuse treatment.

Education classes, individual and group counseling, outpatient treatment

Maybe you’ve tried to quit on your own. Our clients find it’s always easier to make these changes with the help of a professionally trained counselor. For 40 years, PEER Services has been helping people enter recovery and give up alcohol and drug use.

We recognize that the best way to reduce the impact of addiction is through education and preventative measures.  The goal of our prevention services is to preclude youth substance use by targeting youth ages 11–18, their families, and the broader community.  Our prevention services are grounded in evidence-based approaches recognized nationally as effective in reducing youth substance use.  Today’s approach acknowledges that youth make choices in the context of their environment.  Through direct services and collaborations with schools and other community organizations, PEER Services takes a broader, more effective approach to prevention.  We provide up-to-date, customized drug education/social-emotional skill development for youth; programs and resources for parents; and presentations and training for community organizations and schools.

We understand that alcohol and drug use can be very complicated and troubling situations for you and your family and that your particular experience and issues are unique. We provide a welcoming, respectful and caring atmosphere where highly trained staff help define your goals and support you in meeting them.

If you need help for problems related to alcohol or other drugs, our Adult Services program offers a wide range of supportive options designed to meet your specific needs.

Adolescent substance use can range from early experimentation to severe dependence. Our Adolescent Program responds by offering a wide variety of options designed to meet the needs of adolescents, depending where on the continuum their use may fall.

Screening can be a useful tool in helping an individual evalute the extent of his or her drug use. Because no quality control exists among street drugs, people are often surprised to find exactly what was in the substances they use. People utilize our drug testing services for a variety of different purposes.

While almost all teens will be faced with the decision to drink alcohol or use other drugs, adolescent substance use can be prevented. While no inoculation exists for this serious health threat, families can do a lot to reduce the likelihood that a young person will choose to use alcohol or other drugs.

We offer a safe place to receive support and access to health information and care related to HIV. We find that people are greatly relieved once they choose to get tested and have accurate information about their situation. While there is still no cure for HIV/AIDS, medicine today makes this a very treatable disease. But you can’t get treatment until you get tested.

Our outpatient treatment is designed to meet your specific needs and to help you live the life you want. We offer individual and group treatment provided by highly skilled, caring professionals. PEER Services works with you to develop a plan designed to reduce harmful substance use and fulfill your potential.

Sessions with one of our master’s level adult services professionals provide you with support, recovery resources, understanding and encouragement as you seek a healthier life. We will develop a treatment plan based on your individual needs. At PEER Services, your treatment is always a deeply respectful and collaborative process, following your pace, your goals and your measures of health and success.

Groups can provide a powerful source of help for you in shaping a healthier life. Our Outpatient Treatment program are led by a master’s level professional and provide you with helpful group interaction, education, understanding and support.

Empowering every individual to help them lead healthy and happy lives

Mark your calendars to join us Sunday, November 6th as we climb the Orrington Plaza office building to support individuals who are courageously living their lives in recovery. There are more people who die each year from accidental drug overdose than from vehicle collisions. Help us save lives by confronting stigma and stepping up for people everywhere who have struggled, and continue to struggle, with addiction.

Orrington Plaza is a 20 story office building located in downtown Evanston. Climb the building once, or as many as five times, or simply join us to cheer on our climbers and celebrate the joy recovery brings.

Funds raised from this event provide treatment scholarships to low-income teens and adults in need of help.
