A respected nonprofit agency, Regional Mental Health Center has successfully provided mental health care management and treatment for clients with a variety of mental illness disorders for more than 40 years. We work exclusively with adults, teens and youth age six and older who need mental health services, behavior health services and substance abuse programs.

Our philosophy is that someone with a mental illness can get better. Compassionate mental health professionals work to prevent and treat behavioral health problems through effective, affordable and accessible treatment, education and training programs.

We offer a continuum of care to increase quality of life and believe that the best therapy is offered in the least restrictive setting. Regional Mental Health Center services are private and confidential. Anyone can request services; a referral is not needed.

Same day walk-in services are available at two sites for case opening visits during select hours.

At 8555 Taft Street in Merrillville, Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays, walk-in same day case opening visits are done.

At 3903 Indianapolis Boulevard in East Chicago, walk-in same day case opening visits are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Scheduled appointments for case openings can be made by calling 219-769-4005, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You can also request an appointment through your electronic health record. Make sure to include the name of the clinican or doctor you would like to see, along with your day and time preference, and a phone number where you can be reached. You will be contacted within 24 hours to schedule the appoinment. 

Uninsured or underinsured? Regional Mental Health Center can help individuals enroll in Indiana's HIP 2.0 plans. We also have certified navigators that can assist with Medicaid applications. Regional does have a Discount Schedule for those that qualify. The financial staff will gladly help you obtain any and all benefits for which you are eligible.
