New Horizons Inc has been serving the Gary, Indiana community and its surrounding areas now for more than 11 years. We have used our experience, patience and compassion to help families during their difficult time of abuse, neglect and addiction. So often, families come to the attention of the child welfare system because they are overwhelmed with personal problems. Parents have lashed out at their children or failed to care for them properly, because they feel powerless to change. The mission of our CHANGE program is to empower families so they can say, "Change has allowed me to overcome my problems and care for my children." The CHANGE program seeks to reduce child abuse and neglect and aid in the prevention and intervention of truancy.

The CHANGE program uses trained professional staff to empower families by building on their strengths and teaching them skills that will enhance each family's ability to manage their lives long after CHANGE has completed its work.
