September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Four out of five youth who attempt suicide give warning signs. Knowing these signs and how to respond to them can help us know if an individual is contemplating suicide.
At SAFY, it begins with Family.
Our highly-trained and experienced staff works with individuals and families across service systems to deliver care and individualized treatment options which provide lifelong skills that produce transformative change.
Preserving Families & Securing Futures.
At SAFY, our Mission is to Preserve Families and Secure Futures. Through our Model of Care, we provide coordinated, community-based programs that ensure the physical and emotional safety of each individual while improving family functioning.
Foster Parents are Agents of Hope.
We believe foster parents are Agents of Hope and SAFY's most valuable resource and strongest ally. One of the greatest rewards in life is being able to support both a child and a family.
Each year, SAFY serves more than 12,000 families and children ensuring the physical and emotional safety of each individual while improving family functioning. Our Model of Care provides coordinated services that are community-based, accessible, culturally respectful and responsive to family needs. Our Family Improvement Rate is 91%, exceeding the benchmark of 88.5%, demonstrating our success in strengthening the life skills and coping strategies of each family and individual. Learn more
One in 184 children in the U.S. are in the foster care system, meaning a child enters care every two minutes. Approximately 51 percent of these youth will return to their families, 21 percent will become available for adoption, and nine percent will age out without the safety of a family or home.
Join SAFY in our Mission to Preserve Families and Secure Futures, and help us provide care that allows them to thrive and experience success in their future because they are prepared to deal with life's challenges and live independently. Learn more
"Family matters. You never stop needing them no matter where you're at in life."
Three years ago, Katie and I became foster parents. We both work in child welfare as a Family Case Manager and in a leadership role. We wanted to give back to children in the child welfare system in a different way. We decided to adopt through foster care and recently finalized the adoption of our son Gavin. Learn more
SAFY's Model of Care is a way of working with families across service systems to enhance their capacity to care for and protect their children. Focusing on permanency, safety, and well-being and needs within the context of the family and community, we build on each individual's strengths to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes.
