Around 1991 I decided that I had had enough of the business world;  I wanted to connect with people on a more human level.  I volunteered as a research assistant at the University of Connecticut Medical Center and was soon offered a paying job as a research assistant and later as study coordinator.  I was accepted to the University of Hartford for their master in psychology program, and added an associate degree in substance abuse  counseling from Manchester Community College, to round out my education.

A job opportunity led me to Maine, and now, after 10+ years at Tri-County Mental Health Services in Lewiston, I have opened my private office in Augusta.  My many opportunities and training at Tri-County Mental Health Services have prepared me to work with chronic mental illness, substance abuse problems and the disturbing problems life brings to everyone.

I take a holistic approach:  body and mind.  Physical illness impacts the mind and vice versa.  My treatment modalities include CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), substance abuse counseling, and reality therapy; I am also a certified DEEP provider (driver education evaluation program).  My goal is to help you obtain a meaningful life.  I will do whatever I can to help you identify and reach your emotional goals.

In my personal life, I love to travel and have been to 44 states and 17 countries. I have been a backyard gardener for many years, and in recent years have taken up beekeeping.

I am a fully insured therapist; my professional liability insurance is provided by Health Care Providers Service Organization Purchasing Group (HPSO) policy #0433838036.
