Northpointe Council, Inc (formerly the Alcoholism Council in Niagara County) is a not-for profit human service organization governed through its Board of Directors and membership.  The Council has been involved in education, counseling , treatment, emergency, and special services since its inception in 1970.

The agency is funded through the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, Niagara County Department of Mental Health, Niagara County STOP DWI, Niagara County Youth Bureau, The United Ways of Eastern Niagara, Niagara, and the Tonawandas and through contributions from organizations and individuals in the community. The Council is an affiliate of: The Niagara Network of Chemical Dependency Treatment Providers,  The Western New York Chemical Dependency Consortium, The Council of Addictions of New York State, Inc., Niagara Behavioral Healthcare Network, and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD).

The Council offers a wide range of specific and affiliated services through its interrelated programs.  These services are provided to individuals, families, companies, schools, and the community.  Its programs networking together form a continuum of care and services for Individuals.  These services are further enhanced with other alcohol and substance abuse services in the community.  This forms a complete service delivery system focusing on prevention, intervention, and treatment.  Each program of the Council is interdependent and vital to this delivery system.

Northpointe Council, Inc. is excited to announce that we have been named NCADD National’s “Affiliate of the Month” for November 2013!

For nearly 70 years, NCADD has been a valuable resource for millions of people struggling with addiction. Our founder, Marty Mann, was a true pioneer. Marty got sober in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). When AA was just getting started in 1935, Marty’s sponsor was AA Co-founder, Bill Wilson. Marty exuded courage and unwavering belief in the dignity of all people. She worked tirelessly to provide education to raise the awareness of addiction across our society.

Marty made two important policy decisions when she first started NCADD: 1.For NCADD to be a credible agent for changing people’s attitude and understanding of alcoholism, it would need the involvement and support of the medical scientific community; and 2.To change people’s attitude and understanding meant changing people’s behavior, so NCADD must offer professionally trained counseling services at the local level where people live and need help.

Therefore, today NCADD continues to operate on two parallel tracks – the National level and the community level. Today there are almost 100 NCADD Affiliates across the United States.

NCADD believes that all people suffering from alcohol and drug abuse deserve the chance to be helped.

ADDICTION CAN BE DIAGNOSED. TREATMENT IS AVAILABLE. RECOVERY BRINGS JOY.
