I am very grateful to be able to provide this introduction to CAReS! To be in the seat of the Executive Director is a great honor. The title and position of Executive Director is one which I approach with humility and respect.

Like many of my fellow CAReS co-workers, I enter 2016 with a heavy heart at the loss of my former Executive Director, mentor, and friend, Laura Elliott-Engel. I learned a great deal from Laura about the field of addictions, the management of a non-profit organization, and life in general. I appreciate her and her legacy of a steadfast commitment to the field of addictions and those whom we serve.

I came to CAReS, which was the Cattaraugus County Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, in July 1997. The agency has brought me many challenges and opportunities which have shaped me as a professional, a service provider, and a community member.

As we enter into a new chapter at CAReS with many challenges and opportunities ahead, I believe deep in my heart that through the prevention, treatment and recovery services that we provide CAReS will continue to positively impact the individuals, families, organizations and communities in our midst.
